Introducing ImpactEd Group’s Research Advisory Panel

Since 2017, ImpactEd Group has worked to support schools and education organisations in understanding the impact of their work, enabling more informed and effective decision-making for young people. We partner with over 2,000 schools every year and have collected data from more than 2 million pupils across the UK.
As we look ahead, we are expanding our research to address some of the most pressing challenges in education.
Our new initiatives include a study examining the environmental factors that underpin inclusive environments and whether these factors create barriers to or enablers for learning. We're also conducting an ongoing study involving over 80,000 pupils to explore the drivers of pupil absence and the role of school belonging in improving attendance outcomes. Additionally, we're running a study through TEP (The Engagement Platform) with over 300,000 pupils to measure different components of pupils' cognitive, emotional, and behavioural engagement in schools.
To further develop our research, we have established our Research Advisory Panel. The group will:
· Advise on the design and strategic direction of our research, including new and emerging areas of sector need.
· Provide critical feedback on our methodologies, measures, tools, and approaches.
· Support the translation of research into actionable insights for schools, ensuring our outputs remain accessible, credible, and impactful.
· Strengthen the connection between practitioner priorities and our research pipeline, ensuring our work is grounded in real demand.
The group, which will be Co-Chaired by Dr Lauren Bellaera and Professor John Jerrim, is made up of experts from the world of education and research, including school leaders and academics. The advisory group will support, scrutinise, and act as a sounding board for our research, helping ensure that our work is methodologically and ethically sound.
"We're privileged to have assembled a Research Advisory Panel that brings together experts in education research alongside leaders who understand the realities of schools on the ground. Their role is to challenge us, push our thinking, and hold us to the highest standards of rigour and integrity. This combination of academic expertise and deep knowledge of the education sector will be invaluable as we develop research that genuinely serves teachers, students, and the wider education community."
Dr Lauren Bellaera, Director of Research and Insights, ImpactEd Group.
